Consultations are based on a functional medicine model and look at the whole person, not just symptoms in isolation. My aim is to uncover imbalances in your body systems, both biological and nutritional, and explain how these might be contributing to your health concerns. I will then recommend personalised diet and lifestyle actions you can take to achieve your health goals. Functional testing and supplement recommendations may form part of this process.
About Nutritional Therapy
Recognised as a complementary medicine, nutritional therapy is relevant for individuals who want to improve their health and wellbeing, as well as for those with chronic health conditions seeking symptom improvement. As a registered nutritional therapy practitioner, I will work in collaboration with other qualified healthcare professionals that are involved in your care.
Nutritional therapy is not a replacement for medical advice, and if a medical condition is suspected I recommend you see your GP.
I am qualified to work with you on a one-to-one basis to assess and rectify any imbalances identified, helping you unlock your health potential.
What to expect
Ahead of your first consultation you will be asked to complete very detailed questionnaires on your health, diet and lifestyle habits. If relevant, you may be asked to provide the results from any medical tests you have had or to consult your doctor to investigate certain serious symptoms.
At your first consultation, I will clarify with you any details from your questionnaire and discuss in depth your health concerns. As a trained nutrition health coach, I will also help you fully focus on your reasons for making these changes to better support you in achieving your goals.
We will agree an initial action plan of things you can start working on straight away to start your health improvement journey.
During subsequent consultations we will continue to develop your nutrition plan based on your progress and needs. I will explain the results of any tests that we may have undertaken and, if appropriate, I may recommend a supplement programme to support your health goals in the short term. Please note that a check will be made for any interactions between recommended supplements and medication you are on, if relevant. Dietary supplements are not a substitute for a healthy diet, or for prescribed medications.
Each recommendation I make is backed by scientific research and is based on your personal situation. I will explain why I am making it so that you understand how each intervention may help you reach your health goals enabling you to take back control of your diet and health in the long term. I will continue to support you with making the agreed changes to your diet and lifestyle every time we meet. I can provide recipe suggestions, resources and be your accountability buddy, all depending on what will best help you to get back to feeling like yourself, without all of those limiting symptoms.
In the final package consultation we will assess your progress and review any recommended actions and supplements so you have the confidence to carry on your health journey into the future.
Some symptoms may take a little longer to work on or you may just want to touch base from time to time to ensure you stay on your path. Additional sessions can be discussed at the end of your programme as required.
